Yes. The Skydive School at Hillman Farm Airport, Darkan, runs Accelerated Freefall (AFF) courses all year round. We’re the only WA dropzone running AFF all year, and we reckon winter is the best time to skydive in WA.

Why winter is the best time to skydive in WA

Summer in WA brings wind, and a hot day in a jumpsuit can be unpleasant. Winter days are cooler and calmer, which is why most of our crew would pick winter over summer any day. If you’ve been waiting for spring to learn to skydive, you don’t need to.

What to bring in winter

  • Jumpsuits are supplied.
  • Bring thermals and warm layers. It’s cold at altitude and on the airfield first thing in the morning.
  • The fire is on in the bunkhouse and the clubhouse, so there’s always somewhere warm between jumps.
  • Course students can stay on site in the bunkhouse at Hillman Farm.

Weather holds and rebooking

Weather holds happen in every season, not just winter. Once you’re booked in, you’re in. We jump Wednesday to Sunday, 8:30am to 5pm, so you come out on the days that suit you and jump when it’s jumpable.

The only break in the year is Christmas: we’re closed 21 December to 5 January.

Prices are the same all year

  • AFF Starter (first three stages): from $2,190, with a $750 deposit
  • Full AFF course: $3,635
  • Fly With Friends: from $5,610
  • Jumps after your course: $105 including gear
  • Tandem skydive: $399 (8,000 ft) or $489 (14,000 ft)
