What you get

What the $750 covers

One price, nothing to add on the day. Here's what's in it.

01

Online course

Sent to you the week before and done at home, so the day on the ground is a refresher rather than a start from scratch.

02

Ground training and pre-jump exam

Equipment, emergency procedures, canopy flight and landing patterns with an instructor, then a written check before you jump.

03

Examination jump with an instructor

One jump with an instructor, with all gear and equipment supplied. Pass it and you're back jumping, under our supervision until you meet the APF recency rules.

04

Support after the jump

We don't just sign the logbook and wave you off. Ongoing training, canopy flying supervision and packing, so you settle back into the sport properly.

Your day, start to finish

  • Before you come: work through the online course at home. Make notes and go through it twice, it sets you up for the ground training.
  • On the ground: ground training with an instructor, then the pre-jump exam.
  • In the air: your examination jump with an instructor.
  • After that: under APF rules you jump under supervision until you've made six stable freefalls in the preceding 12 months, so plan on about six jumps to be fully current. We stay with you for those: ongoing training, canopy flying supervision and packing.

Why do it here

A club, not a conveyor belt

Hillman Farm has been a skydiving club since 1975, and it still runs like one. Small numbers, instructors who have time for you, and sport jumpers around the hangar who remember what it was like to come back after a break. We jump Wednesday to Sunday, all year round, so you can pick the day that suits you rather than waiting for a course to come around.

Once you're current, the dropzone is yours to use. There's a bunkhouse and camping if you want to make a weekend of it, and a kitchen and showers on site.

Learn to skydive courses, tandem skydives and all our prices are on the site if you're bringing someone along who hasn't jumped before.

Quick answers

Recurrency: your questions

Who is the recurrency course for?

Two groups: skydivers who hold a licence but haven't jumped for a while, and people who finished their AFF course and haven't jumped since. Both need to get current again before jumping without supervision. Not sure whether you're current? Call us on 0415 486 422 and we'll sort it out.

What does it cost and what's included?

$750, paid in full when you book. That covers the online course, ground training, the pre-jump exam and your examination jump with an instructor, with all gear and equipment supplied.

Do I need my own gear?

No. All gear and equipment is supplied for the course.

What do I bring?

Your logbook. We'll send you the online course and the arrival details the week before your day.

When can I do it?

Any day we jump, Wednesday to Sunday, all year round. Pick your day when you book online.

Is it just one jump?

The course includes one examination jump with an instructor. That jump gets you back in the air, but under APF rules you stay under supervision until you've met the recency requirement: six stable freefalls in the preceding 12 months. So plan on about six jumps to be fully current. We stay with you for those with ongoing training, canopy flying supervision and packing.

What do the APF rules say?

The Australian Parachute Federation's Operational Regulations set the currency rules. A certificate holder who hasn't jumped in six months must jump under the direct supervision of a DZSO-endorsed instructor until assessed as proficient (OR 2.3.3). An Annual Recency Certificate needs at least six stable freefalls in the preceding 12 months (OR 2.3.4), and without one you jump under the supervision of a training organisation until you get there (OR 2.3.5). A student who hasn't jumped in 90 days is assessed by the DZSO first (OR 2.3.2). The recurrency course covers the assessment and the examination jump, and we supervise the rest. The full rules are on the APF website.

Is there a weight limit?

95 kg, the same as our solo student gear. Close to it? Call us on 0415 486 422 before you book.

Where are you?

Hillman Farm Airport near Darkan WA 6392, about 2 hours 20 minutes from Perth and 1 hour 30 from Bunbury. Search "The Skydive School" in Google Maps, or see our Where We Are page.
