Friends and family watching a tandem skydive landing at The Skydive School in Western Australia near Bunbury, Perth, and Albany.

Why It’s Great to Watch a Skydive in WA

So, someone you know has booked a tandem skydive and you want to go along and watch! Whether you’re heading out from Bunbury, Perth, Albany, or anywhere in Western Australia, this guide is for all the partners, parents, mates, and the squads making the trip to cheer on a skydiver.

At The Skydive School, we don’t just welcome spectators, we reckon you’re part of the experience. Here’s how to make the most of it.

What to Expect on Jump Day

Arrival & Check‑in Process

Firstly you need to meet the TSS (The Skydive School) crew and have a little sticky beak around the dropzone.

There’s gear to be fitted, safety briefings, aircraft timings and weather to work with, so plan to stick around for a few hours.

Bring snacks or check out some local establishments for some tasty foods and drinks.

Not to forget, meeting our awesome community of skydivers, often referred to as funjumpers! You thought watching a David Attenborough documentary was interesting, wait until you see some of the funjumpers haha.

We’ve got plenty of open space, and you’re always welcome to post up, relax, and enjoy the experience.

As your friend/loved one gets geared up, cameras rolling, aircraft buzzing, the nerves kicking in, you are part of the jump. Wave as they load the plane up, getting ready to buzz to height to, before skydiving at speeds north of 200km per hour.

The Best Part? Seeing Their Face After Landing

You wont see much from the freefall, but as the parachute opens, you will hear the screams of joy and watch as they come back to the ground.

There’s nothing like watching your friend or loved one touch down after their first tandem skydive, the adrenaline, the grin, the wild hair and maybe some druel hanging on their faces!

Be ready with your phone or camera. We’ll let you know where to stand so you’ve got a clear view of the landing area. It’s a moment you’ll both remember.

Your loved one might progress to solo AFF – check out our whats involved in our Learn to Skydive Course.

Can I Join Them?

We get asked this all the time and the answer is yes, if there’s a spot available. If watching makes you want to give it a crack, let us know. We often have room for last-minute bookings, and it’s not uncommon for someone who came to watch to end up jumping too. At the end of the day, it is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, unless you love it that much and want to join our Learn to Skydive, AFF Courses.

How to Get Here

We’re based in Darkan, making it a scenic road trip from Skydive Bunbury, Skydive Perth, or Skydive Albany regions. The drive is part of the adventure, and once you’re here, you’ll see why people travel from all over Western Australia to jump with us.

Pop in your maps, “The Skydive School” or “Hillman Farm Skydiving” and it will bring you right to our door.

Make It a Day Out

Skydiving is an awesome excuse for a day trip (or a full weekend). Pack a picnic and enjoy the good vibes. You’ll meet other skydivers, students, and families, it’s a proper community out here.

Or check out the community run Darkan Hotel, local cafe The Great Awakening or neighboring Williams Township Area, with the Willams Hotel and the Wool Shed Cafe serving some nice treats, food, coffees and beers.

But remember, no alcohol before jumping.

Want to Book in Advance?

If you’ve got multiple people keen to jump or watch, it’s always best to book your tandem skydive in advance so we can plan for you and make the day smooth. Give us a call or message us through the website and we’ll sort you out.

See You on the Ground (or in the Sky?)

Whether you’re watching from the grass or thinking about strapping in for a jump yourself, we’re stoked to have you with us.

Skydiving is more than just the fall, it’s the people, the build-up, and the big moments shared with others. So thanks for coming along. You’re as much a part of the day as the skydiver.
