50 Years of Skydiving at Hillman Farm – A Legacy in the Sky
From round canopies, homemade square canopies, 1st slider and the 1st “Birdman” wingsuit jump in Australia — Hillman Farm has seen it all.
For over five decades, skydivers have been taking to the skies above this quiet patch of Western Australia, turning a humble airstrip into one of the country’s most iconic drop zones. Long before tandem skydives became a tourism bucket-list item and AFF courses was a common phrase, Hillman was already launching legends. Starting out with fun jumping, founding members weren’t long getting staticline skydiving underway, opening the gates to new students to join our awesome sport.
Hillman was also the 1st dropzone in Australia to do AFF. We owe a lot to our founding members of Hillman Farm Skydiving and the Harrington family for allow us skydivers do our thing.

🛩️ The Early Days
It all started in the early 1970s with some wild skydivers, open paddocks, and a whole lot of enthusiasm. Back then, rigs were heavy, landings were hard, and spotting was done by looking out the door of aircraft… No GPS back then — but the stoke was just as strong.
The Hillman crew became known for their bush DZ grit, their warm welcomes, and their wild, dusty weekends. Word spread, and the drop zone grew, not just in numbers, but in culture and community. It’s the longest consecutively running dropzone in Australia.

👨👩👧👦 More Than Just a Drop Zone
Hillman has never just been a place to jump. It’s been a training ground, a social hub, and for many of us, a second home. We’ve seen students become instructors, jumpers become mentors, and weekend visitors become lifelong friends.
Ask anyone who’s spent time here, it’s not just the skydiving that keeps people coming back, it’s the community. The barbecues, the campfires, the long road trips, and the belly laughs after a good day’s jumping.

🎉 Celebrating the Legacy
